After getting my oldest on the bus, and my youngest off to preschool I decided to run to the dollar store. Truth be told, I buy all of my greeting cards at the dollar store. Sorry, cat’s out of the bag for those of you who know me. While I was there, I noticed their large selection of Valentine’s Day candy. I decided to see what items were allergy friendly for Ryan. I try to get the boys the same things to avoid fighting, so I was really looking for both of them. I thought I would share the selection that I found. While I prefer chocolate, both boys and Bobby love fruity and sour flavored candies.

If Valentine’s Day snuck up on you this week, you’re in the right place. Check out these last minute finds! Here are the top Valentine’s Day candy and non Food ideas for this week:

Candy

*This list is based on the ingredients list and labeling on the packages in my local store. Please be sure to read the candy packages in your store as they may be manufactured in a different facility.

Razzles

Produced in a facility that DOES NOT use peanuts, tree nuts, or gluten.

I know Ben is going to love these! Candy hearts that turn in to gum?! He is going to think it is so cool!

Valentine Nerds: Strawberry and Punch Flavored

May Contain Egg

Who doesn’t like Nerds?! One of these little packs will keep my kids busy for awhile. Over the years of stepping on nerds that fell on the floor, I finally figured out to give them a small bowl to dump their Nerds in to make it easier to grab them.

Sour Patch Kids: Conversation Hearts Candy

Manufactured in a facility that processes soy

We love all things Sour Patch in this house. I got these for Bob and the boys last year, and they were a hit. I picked them up again!

Smarties: Love Hearts

While I may not be a fan of smarties, I know that my kids love them!

Tootsie Roll: Be Mine Tube

Produced in a facility that DOES NOT use peanuts, tree nuts, or gluten.

Bob and Ben both love Tootsie Rolls! I was so excited to see these in the festive Valentine’s Day colors!

Coastal Bay Starlight Mints

Processed in a facility that DOES NOT use peanuts, tree nuts, milk, or wheat.

I love mints. My kids love mints. I never thought of them as Valentine-ish. But, with white and red colors, why not?!

Red Bird Cherry Candy Puffs

Made in a facility that is free of milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat and soy.

I had not tried these before. I kind of squeezed one through the package in the store and thought they were kind of like marshmallows. Once I got them home and tried one, it was much different. It was more of the consistancy of a buttermint- but cherry flavored.

Coastal Bay Cherry Jelly Hearts

Processed in a facility that DOES NOT use peanuts, tree nuts, milk, or wheat.

These surprised me. I usually don’t like gum drops and things like that, but these were actually really good!

Coastal Bay Cherry Sours

Processed in a facility that DOES NOT use peanuts, tree nuts, milk, or wheat.

Another candy I have never tried. I figured fruit and sour- can’t go wrong with the boys. Bobby was so excited when he saw what I brought home! He said it reminded him of going to the bulk food store as a kid and buying these. These were a huge hit with him and the kids!

Thare are also some great non food items that I would be happy to get my kids, or their friends for Valentine’s Day.

Non Food Ideas

Dinosaur Valentines

My boys would be so excited to receive these! They both wanted dinosaur valentines to pass out to their friends this year.

Pencils

Pencils… yes PENCILS have become a big “thing” this year. Ben gets special ones from school, and Ryan needs a special one too. They like to sharpen them. These festive pencils are an awesome find!

Heart Erasers

Of course every festive pencil deserves an equally festive eraser topper!

Heart Glasses

I don’t think that Ryan or Ben would wear the pink glasses, but I know they would rock the red heart glasses on the big day!

Valentines themed stamps

Every kid loves stamps! These are something that I know my kids will use year round.

Sticker Boxes

STICKERS! Need I say more?! Every kid loves stickers and the llama is seriously adorable (or cool- if you were to ask Ben).

12.5 Oz. Valentine Travel Mug

Need an idea for your child’s teacher? Or for your high schooler? These travel mugs hold 12.5 ounces and are a great gift idea!
