About Us

As a mother to a young child with food allergies, I can tell you about my worst nightmare. I have woken from terrorizing dreams in the middle of the night- drenched in sweat, heart racing, and tears streaming down my face over my son ingesting something he shouldn’t have, and going into anaphylactic shock. Yes, it was just a dream, but just the thought is part of our everyday life- we are constantly living it. Welcome to My Perfect Messy Life. My life is filled with happy and energetic kids, running through the house, helping me bake and cook (did I mention making a huge mess in the kitchen) all while navigating the different food allergies and sensitivities we juggle on a daily basis, It has brought us closer together as a family and I am so excited to share some of our favorite recipes, product reviews, and latest blogs with you.

I started this site as a journal for all the things I was doing with my children.  However, there was ALWAYS one topic I kept returning to.  It has been a huge part my everyday life, food allergies and sensitivities.  So, my site has naturally evolved into what it is now, a place for recipes, product reviews, and blogs all about food allergies.

When I was young, my mother discovered that she had Celiac Disease and was gluten intolerant. This was, “new”, at the time she was diagnosed and there were not many products and very little information available at the time. Several years later, my family found out that my youngest brother had a peanut allergy. We became fluent in reading labels, and checking to make sure things were safe for both my mother and my brother. Since food has always been a topic of discussion in our family, once I went to college, I took a Nutrition Course. I found myself wanting to do the work, and wanting to learn everything I could. I quickly changed my major from Interior Design to Dietetics (a 4 year nutrition program), with a minor in Chemistry. I graduated in 2009 with my Bachelor’s of Science. After that, I worked in the food industry, got married, then became a stay at home mom to two wonderful boys. My youngest now has food allergies, and my husband has discovered that he is sensitive to several different food products.  So, here we are.

I am now a mother, writer, and food allergy/intolerance advocate. I am so excited to share my recipes, food photos, and thoughts with you.

Thanks for dropping by, I hope that you find what you are looking for here. I always love hearing from my readers, so let me know how we’re doing!

Fondly,

Liz Sak
